So, I recently was on vacation in Destin, FL, and while we were there, we decided to check out the legendary and iconic McGuires Irish Pub. We heard so many wonderful things about the restaurant and decided we wanted to try it out.
When we arrived, the restaurant was FULL! There was hardly no parking anywhere. You have to, a lot of times, park around the back & walk up tons of stairs to get to the actual restaurant, and fortunately for us, we got lucky and found a parking space in front of the restaurant. As many of you may know, I am on the bigger side. Me & well, stairs... Just don't really mesh. Needless to say, I was ecstatic. Once we got in, we had to put our names on the list. The wait was a little over an hour. This was already expected from us, upon our arrival, because it's a must visit place when visiting Destin. Cool thing is, while you wait, there is an awesome gift shop with a lot of neat goodies & rare things, you don't see many other places. For adults, there is an outside bar, available for your enjoyment during your wait. After waiting, and finally getting in, we were seated and greeted by our waitress. She was very nice, first and foremost. That's a huge plus! I did unfortunately forget her name, so I won't be leaving it here for recommendation, this time. Once seated, and after a brief chat with our waitress, about it being our first time, she went on to tell us, they brew their own root beer, and beer. We thought that was way cool! As you probably can assume, I decided to try the root beer. I think the root beer was good, and had a different taste to it, but to be honest.. I didn't, personally, get the hype around it. I was the only one in our party that seemed to feel this way, so I guess, I'll let you be the judge of that, when you visit. First, we ordered appetizers. We got the egg rolls , and fried mash potatoes. They both were great! For our entree, I ordered the pizza burger, one of their many many different types of burgers. Several of us in the party got burgers, and every one of us were very pleased. The burgers are very filling, but my word of advice to you, is that you try to eat as much of your burger as possible, to avoid having to take it to-go. I had a bit of my burger left over, and went to eat it the next morning, and I ended up throwing it away. I didn't like it left over at all. Others in the party got several different things, and all really enjoyed their meals. There was also this $.18 soup, and it was very good. You receive it, for that discounted price with the purchase of any food product on the menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant was decent. Depending on your style, and the atmosphere you enjoy most, this may be wonderful, but it wasn't per-say my favorite. They do this really cool thing though, where every person who visits the restaurant, is given the option to write on the dollar amount of their choice, a note, and staple it to the wall. The ENTIRE restaurant from top to bottom is covered in money. Rumor has it, that the restaurant, has well over a million dollars within it, from customers. Cool, right?! -- Overall, it was an awesome experience, and I definitely would visit there again. On a scale from 1-10 for recommendations, I'd give it a 8 :). -- Thanks for reading guys! Let me know, in the comments, if you have visited this place, and let me know if you enjoy your experience. Look forward to reading your feedback. Until next time...
